LZ Oasis is located on the road to DUC CO from PLEIKU. As you flew down the road, southwest of Pleiku, the first major area was “TEA PLANTATION” or CATECKA. Further west was a place along the road shown as PLEI RONGOL that became LZ OASIS (about 25 “clicks” from Pleiku). About another 25 “clicks was DUC CO. While at LZ OASIS, we staged out of there to intercept the PAVN troops coming down the Ho Chi Minh Trail.

I remember one crew chief by the last name of Yates. He was a slight individual, crew chief, with whom I talked to quite a lot aboard ship. The fellow with glasses in the picture reminded me of him but I don't think it was Yates.
